July 1 - Crossing back into Canada

It's always hard to pack up on "the morning towards home"...it's always a sleepness night when those home-life realities seep into your brain... the things we need to be responsible for but not really ready to actually tackle them....

Last selfies with our "partners in crime"! We could not have imagined a better holiday with these two! Love them immensely and to the ends of the earth!

Last lunch in the USA! Always good food here!

So to recap, 29 days on the road, 8 states....Washington,  Oregon, Idaho, Nevada,  Utah,  Arizona,  New Mexico, Colorado.  6567 km.

Could not have thought of two better people to have spent 29 days with....until we meet on the road again someday soon! Love you and cheers to the Kriegs!

June 30 - last day at Steamboat Rock!

Last day and it was an early one. Our mission was to hike Steamboat Rock! Elevation gain on 650 feet, 3 hour hike in 25-30 degree weather! Whew! We decided because of the heat and the steep and rocky trail that she would be better staying in the cool RV. Good decision!

It's a real grind till you get to the top then t mostly levels out.

We did the right side of the butte then down and up again to a large rock overlooking the campsite!

This was a welcome site at the base of the hike....felt so good to put our heads under the cold water!!!
Little rest then off to the Lake....Boys trying to clean all the sand from my kayak!

Lu still a little sleepy from the morning meds....

Appies and dinner at the Kriegs! Great way to wind down the vacation!

June 29 - the day to play at Banks Lake

Lazy day today. Boys went into town to Grand Coulee Dam for a tour, casino and lunch.

Charlene, Lu and I spent the day kayaking and hanging out at the beach.

Great way to spend one of our last few days....

Lu loves being on the kayak....not in the water just on it! The water was pretty calm and very few boats out today.

June 28 - road to Steamboat Rock State Park

Early start, left the site by 9:30. Spring canola seems to be the preferred crop here. When in bloom it has a pleasant scent of "waffles"...I don't like to eat waffles but boy does it smell good!

Decided George needed at least one more breakfast out...stopped in Craigmont at the Camas Club Cafe...a cafe amongst many other things.

I took Lu for a quick walk after we ate and in that time they found out the owner does it all....she is the waitess and cook, sells odd grocery items, western clothes, Tupperware and ice-cream. She has 6 kids, 4 girls and 2 boys, oldest girl 16 is a nightmare.... and she really only wanted 2 kidd. She plans on renovating the upstairs  into rooms for rent, each room a different theme.... adding a hairdressing place (yes, she's also a hairdresser), and she does it all herself.

The whole family was involved originally but that was a crazy disaster so she is sending her husband back to be a contractor and she will do the rest.... and the food was great!...and nobody had waffles...

Next stop was the overlook of Lewiston,  Idaho and Clarkson, Washington!

...more canola...

Stopped in Coalfax to see the Codger Pole
Safety first....

Loved these signs above a newly planted garden..

And more canola...

Pastures and farmland changed to rock! Love this drive.

Home sweet home for our last 3 nights! Sites all nicely raked...not like some we have been to. First place we have ever been to that has 2 sewer hook-ups, one in the middle of the site and one at the end. ...someone was thinking!

The Kriegs great site also! Another great dinner cooked by Charlene!

Lu chilaxing in her wagon as we visit. She loves it in there!
