June 10 - Roadtripping to Capitol Reef National Park

We had a super early get-up-and-go day. Lu was picked up at 7:00am by the Doggy Van to spend the day at a local kennel/boarding.
Let's just say she was not really happy as she drive away🐶😭

Stopped for our first "breakfast out" in a little town called Tropic. Great food...but definitely USA portions...nobody could clean their plate off and I even ordered from the "kiddie menu".

Back on the road, it quickly changed from the red rock of Bryce..

To fertile farm land and forests with muted colours.

Stopped at a viewpoint and I just knew these 2 cyclists had a story..they were on a long journey.

Yugo (left tall slender dude) (spelling probably  totally incorrect) was from France and he started his bike ride from New York City 4 weeks prior and he met  up with Ben in Colorado (he's from Michigan) and they have over 2 weeks left on their ride to San Francisco!!!!
Now that's a journey !!
Next drove through Escalante and stopped at the Visitor Center for some maps etc.

Stopped at all the viewpoints along the way and then met this Swiss Couple who have been on quite the 7 month journey. They transported their van to the southern tip of South America and have been loosely following this 30,000 mile adventure.

Upward and onward to Capitol Reef!

After a few hours arrived in Capitol Reef National Park.

Did a nice hike up to Natural Bridge!

And Scottish belted cows!
Lots of driving, bits of hiking all makes for thirsty traveller's....but....we are in Utah....darn near impossible to find a watering hole on the return trip home!

Finally found a place but there must have been many more thirsty traveller's so the only one with beer on the menu had an enormous lineup!

So we picked Lu up at the boarding place...she was scheduled for one more day visit....we cancelled that....NOT A PLACE FOR OUR LU😢
