June 26 - Craters of The Moon National Park

After a great evening watching fireflies and the stars for many hours...long after the guys turned in....we were on the road again.

Idaho and potatoes....that's what most people think about Idaho... and yes there are lots of potatoe crops...

And even a Museum...which we did not stop at...

The landscape changed back and forth lots....

Coming closer into Craters of the Moon the lava fields started.

Campsite for one night in the middle of the lava fields...so cool!

And the wildflowers are once again in full bloom..

Set up camp....gave Lu the magic pill and off we went on the 7 mile circle tour of the lava fields.

...I don't know what they were doing here...I am just the picture taker in this one!

We saw this little chipmunk hanging on to a branch.....trying to figure out how to get down and his momma had to go back up and show him the way!

...and when you pour concrete in nature....anything can happen...this little hopper will be remembered for many years to come.

Hiked up a short steep hill to an amazing view. Super windy at the top, had to hold on tight to our hats.

And then back down....still don't know what these guys were doing!

A few more stops along the way...

Last one was a paved path that lead out to some lava tunes and caves. Personally not a fan of caves or anything like this but had to do it.

And out she comes....

Back to the campsite for refreshments and dinner..

Cooled off nicely at night.

Had been looking forward to stargazing here...the evening started off cloudy so went to bed. Woke up to check the stars and about 3:00 am....they were in all their glory.....it was so dark....so quiet....I was the only one in my housecoat....in a lawnchair....watching the stars...these are not my photos...but only what I saw..
