People start moving pretty early here, you can hear them getting ready while the day is cool. The early morning is cool with a nice gentle breeze.
Lu was off to doggy daycare so that we could spend the day hiking in Zion National Park.
Charlene and Steph took the park shuttle in and George and I rode our bikes in and met at the Park Lodge to start our first hike. There was some trail closures and as we were contemplating which trail to do a nice young guy said we should take the West Rim Trail to Scouts Landing....we thought sure, why not...not one of us looking at the trail rating, it looked like a nice meandering trail..
Before too long we were going up and up, trail rating "strenuous" so our meandering walk was a 6.2 km round trip steep hike...with amazing views along the way.
Saw a Mexican Spotted owl along the way nestled in the rocks.
Finally made it! The views were worth the effort for sure. (Shelly and Kyli.... you would loved it, Lisette, you would have killed me!)
At the Scouts Landing was the start to Angels Landing, which is a half mile narrow, steep, winding, busy nightmare of a hike that you require a permit for...we had no desire to even attempt that part. My fear of ledges/cliffs would never have let me do that.
We had a much deserved break enjoying our accomplishment and feeling pretty proud of ourselves.....and even a bathroom at the top...the weirdest toilets we had ever seen!
Finished off the day with a nice cool hike to Weaping Rock!
Then to Riverside walk which takes you to the Narrows which is a 15 km hike in and out in the cold water...it was also closed as the river was running too swiftly.
What a beautiful day spent with Charlene & Steph❤️
